AI Image Creation — A Beginner's Guide with ChatGPT and Copilot
AI doesn’t just write — it draws too. Give it a text description and it creates an image in seconds.
How does it work?
You write a description of what you want to see. AI creates an image based on that description.
For example: “A cat sitting on a windowsill, sunlight streaming in, watercolor style”
AI draws exactly that. Change “watercolor style” to “photorealistic” — and the image changes completely.
Which tool to start with?
ChatGPT can create images directly in a conversation. Just type a description and the image appears. The free version limits the count, but trying it is easy. Visit: chatgpt.com
Microsoft Copilot offers image creation for free with certain daily limits. Type a description and it generates several options. Visit: copilot.microsoft.com
Google Gemini can also create images. Useful especially if you already use other Google tools. Visit: gemini.google.com
How to write a good description
A good description is clear and detailed. Examples:
- “An old Finnish cabin by a lake, dawn light, misty and calm, photorealistic”
- “A small café in Paris, watercolor style, warm and inviting atmosphere, flowers in the windows”
- “A digital illustration of a robot sitting in a coffee shop reading a book, comic book style”
A description that’s too short like “A cat” won’t work — AI doesn’t know what the cat is doing, where, or in what style.
What to try?
Make a personalized birthday card with your pet’s photo. Create an illustration for a presentation slide in 30 seconds. Generate a unique social media image. Or make children’s book art: “Draw a dragon and a little girl having tea together, children’s book style”
Limitations to know about
AI is still bad at writing text within images — letters often get jumbled. Hands and faces can also go wrong.
Creating images with AI is fun, fast, and surprisingly useful. You’ll often get results in just a few seconds.
